This past year has been wonderful. It is amazing to see where we started and where we are at now. This year has gone so fast yet it seems like forever ago since the kids were going to school at Washington Elem. They have learned so much and have really worked hard. We have been impressed with how much they have learned in the past 5 months. C has turned into a great little reader and has learned a lot about the world and the different continents. He also has enjoyed art class and PE. J has loved learning how to write in cursive, start multiplication and learn fractions (which is a work in progress). She is also taking Portuguese class which she loves. It has been a big adjustment for them to move here and start a new school. They have made the best of it!

Science Museum
When I think of Science museum my first thought is B-O-R-I-N-G. That is probably the reason my kids are convinced that my husband is smarter than I. Any questions about cloud formation... how thunder and lightning happen.. the difference between a hurricane and tornado I will always refer them to there father for the correct answer. I am not sure where I was for most of my high school career. Anyway I had a really great time and I actually wanted to find out more about how the Good Earth Works. We spent a good afternoon there and could have stayed longer. The kids soaked it all in and can't wait to go back.
Botanical Gardens
This weekends was one to be remembered. R had a 4 day weekend. It was Festa Junina. One of the reasons that I like Brazil is that they have a holiday/no work day each month. Yes they have one holiday each month where they don't have to work. It is crazy. The kids had thursday off of school and we went to the Botanical Gardens it was beautiful. It reminded me a lot of Thanksgiving point. Only Brazilian style. You don't see wild monkeys at Thanksgiving point. It was very cool.

Chicken Hearts
We found this great little cafe called Mimi's. Most of the food on the menu is served on a kabob. including the chocolate covered pineapple and strawberries. So yummy by the way. Every time we go C orders the same thing. Chicken hearts, just saying it makes me cringe. He loves them. I thought he was eating them just because he is a boy and it is cool to eat chicken hearts. But now I think he really truly enjoys them. C I hope you enjoy them there is plenty to go around. Eat up little boy Eat up!
