My little Chef at Work

I love this kid. It seems he is always up to something. It was saturday morning and R was at home taking care of M and R. M was suppose to be watching cartoons when R smelled something and wondered who was cooking. I don't know why he loves eggs so much. Or maybe it is the only thing he thinks he knows how to cook. 2 dozen eggs later and a house filled with gas. This is what was found. Atleast He was still alive and hadn't blown us all to smitherines. He had the gas on but hadn't figured out how to light it....yet! How does a three year old crack that many eggs and manage not to get any shells in the mixture.
Just days earlier we had been making banana bread. I left the room to get the door and he added some unknown amount of flour. The banana bread weighed about as much as a brick. and tasted maybe a little bit better.
While on the subject of funny things M does (let's call them funny things for lack of a better term) . Just to top it all off he was in my shower taking a bath. He decided to dump out all my my shampoo and use it for bubble bath. (Keep in mind I live in Brazil and things like that are a luxury and are hard to replace maybe not hard to replace just really expensive) I will just chalk it up for a good laugh.....hahaha

Valentines Day

We figured it out. We I mean R. I have spent pretty much all day trying to figure out how to make a collage of pictures for my blog. R gets home from work and has it done in a half hour. Why do I waste my time! I guess I should just be happy it is done. I like how it turned out.
Valentines Day! I have said it before I just love this holiday and it really isn't celebrated here.
We made the most of it and invited some people over and decorated cookies. It turned out great! Thanks Toa for the cookies and sprinkles.

Drive home from the beach

Amazing rainstorm. Take note of the bikers. It had only been raining an hour maybe less and this is what happened. The video didn't turn out very good, but the road was covered in water.

Guarja Beach

One thing about being here with each little day trip we take we have really no idea what to expect and how to prepare. The trip to the beach was great. Yeah we could have used a lot more sunscreen and brought a lot less stuff. We brought chairs, umbrellas, body boards, snacks, towels of course and money. All we really needed was money, towels, and body boards. The people at the beach provide everything else. As long as you buy food from them. It is cheap and yummy so I am sold. I am sure we stuck out like a sore thumb. With all our kids and stuff. On our way there we knew we were getting close because we kept seeing guys caring surf boards riding there bikes down the road with bare feet. It was so hot! R ,C and J loved the body boards. C little nose was so burnt it blistered and peeled. J was stung by a jellyfish while riding the waves on the body board. It hurt but she is a trooper. The kids slept on the way home. Which was probably a good thing because it was a crazy rain storm.

Playing Around

Fun pictures of the kids playing around.

Villa Lobos Park

M just loves playing with his little friend Melecini. The older kids are at school so these two get to hang out a lot together. They have a love hate relationship. They love being with each other but they don't always get along. I think M likes to tease her to much. We love being with them and are so thankful they have welcomed us with open arms.

Shopping day at Embu

We had a great day at Embu. I love going on Saturdays there are a lot of street vendors. The weather was great (nice and overcast). It wasn't crowded at all. The best thing about it was the pastels and sugar cane juice. I think M just might have been in heaven. We thought about just hooking him up to an ivy of sugar cane juice. Really just a great day. The kids saw there first banana tree.

Walk to School

The walk to school is fantastic. It takes just a few minutes to get there. The sidewalks are cobblestone and the fence and trees have ivy crawling up around them. Great little walk.

Ibirapuera Park

Our good friend Toa and her kiddos took us to this cool park. While at the park we tried some coconut milk and had popsicles. We were drenched in a rainstorm. Hung out on a playground. Saw some really cool fish. Took a look at these ants carrying around leaves. It was an eventful day. The best part is we found our way there and home again.

We made it

The airport floor is not the cleanest place. Yes that is C camped out on the ground.

14 checked bags and 6 carry-ons. That's not including R. Let's just say we had our hands full. We slept over at R parents. With the help of them and Westech we made it safe and on time to the airport. We left at 6AM our time and 16 hours later arrived in Brazil. The kiddos did great on the flight. All of our luggage arrived but my summer clothes. I have plenty of warm winter clothes and jackets but some how that doesn't quite cut it for a Brazilian summer. I am still hopeful that one day I will see my summer clothes again.

Saying Good-bye to good Friends and Family

The last few weeks at home were a doozy. I think it all started with the washer. Our washer broke we bought a new one and that one broke. Third times the charm. The shut off valve for the washer broke then the main water line to the house followed. R 's starter in his car went out. He got it fixed then it went out again. The thermostat in our house broke. We all got the flu. We sold both our cars. We had to get our vacinations/immunizations. We packed up our house and said our good-byes. And some how it all worked our for the best. We are so grateful for family and friends who love and support us in this adventure. For taking care of all the little odds and ends that need some attention.
