The Saga Begins

Waiting a long two weeks after school had gotten out we finally packed up our bags and left for Utah. The kids were just beside themselves with excitement to get back to Utah. Not just Utah but back to all that they know and all the people they love. We made it to the airport in good time. Leaving early just to be on the safe side. You never know what traffic will bring you in Brazil. We had a few minor setbacks. We got the new guy who was checking us in and it took him about 45 min to figure everything out. The kids were getting restless but they were fine. We just about left the counter when he happened to mention oh and by the way your flight has been delayed until 2 a.m. We were a little shocked but nothing we couldn't deal with. I mean come on we have survived living in Brazil for the past 6 months. Delta in return gave us a free meal to help pass the time.
Our next big challenge was getting through immigration. With the visas we came into Brazil with we have to leave the country every 90 days. Hence our visit home. One of the times we left we went to Argentina. It just so happens when we left our tour guide took our Visas to get stamped and Brazil never stamped them when we came back through. Once again we are stuck. Immigration won't let us pass through because we have no proof of us leaving the country on the scheduled time. An hour later and a fine of $400 cut back from $1200 we were on our way.
We decided to go and get dinner. I have gotten into a bad habit of saying things that probably shouldn't be said nobody really speaks english and I have lost any tact I ever had previous. We are sitting at the table and this guy had the biggest plumber's crack I have ever seen. Me with my big mouth can't resist commenting on it. Next thing I know this guy's wife hits him and tells him to pull down his shirt. Just so happens this poor man that I have embarassed is now on our flight....I am so lame. My big mouth has been tamed.
Also while eating our free meal, the biggest cockroach I have ever seen is running through the restaurant while the kitchen staff is chasing after it with a broom. Yucky. Just another fun memory right!
We met some really fun people while hanging out in the airport. Our favorite was the little 8 year old boy who introduced us to a product called flarp. Let's just say hours of fun for a little boy. We played a little uno. J had a little nap and C was glad to have surpassed the longest time he has ever stayed up in his life. I guess it was good for something.
After 30 hours of traveling we made it to Utah. The kids were troopers and don't even remeber that flight as a bad memory.
